Acme Finishing Company, Inc. has 5 production lines that are dedicated to powder. Our capabilities include the ability to handle ANY size part. We are able to service our customers with quick turnaround times due to the high throughput we achieve in our process.  We offer competitive pricing for small and large volume jobs in powder and we have the ability to fabricate custom racks in house, which enables us to better service our customers. 

Powder coating is a fairly new coating compared to liquid coating. Powder coating was first used in Australia around 1967. The powder is a dry coating that free flows to form a continuous film.

Our newest powder coating line includes a 7-stage washer and can handle almost any size part in any quantity.

ADVANTAGES OF POWDER COATING

Some of the main advantages of powder coating include:
  • No Hazardous Waste
  • Up to 99 percent of powder overspray can be captured and maintained
  • Thicker coating than liquid coating without sagging or running
  • No mixing of solvents which leads to easier clean up
  • Texture is already build into powder

DISADVANTAGES OF POWDER COATING

Some of the main disadvantages of powder coating include:
  • Uniformity of coating thickness is sometimes difficult to maintain
  • All parts require curing 
  • Orange peel can be more prone than liquid coating
  • Touch up is more difficult than liquid coating
  • Sample/Color match is more extensive than liquid coating

TYPES OF POWDER COATING

There are many different types of chemistries for powder coating. It is important that the correct chemistry is chosen for your application. Below is a chart that will help you to choose the correct chemistry:
