Acme Finishing Company, Inc. has 4 production lines that have the ability to apply liquid coating. Our capabilities include the ability to handle ANY size part. We are able to service our customers with quick turnaround time due to the large capacity volumes that we are able to handle. We offer competitive pricing for small and large volume jobs in liquid and we have the ability to fabricate custom racks in house, which enables us to better service our customers. 

Liquid coating has existed for over 140 years. Liquid coating is used for both protective and aesthetic purposes. 


ADVANTAGES OF LIQUID COATING

Some of the main advantages of liquid coating include:
  • Liquid coating can be applied to any type of material 
  • Coating can cured without utilizing heat 
  • High gloss and metallic finishes are easier achieved with liquid coating 
  • Sample/Color Match is not as extensive as powder coating
  • Good ultraviolet light resistance

DISADVANTAGES OF LIQUID COATING

Some of the main disadvantages of liquid coating include:
  • Splatter finishes require a two step process which increase costs
  • Not as durable as powder coating due to lower mil thickness requirements
  • Some liquid coatings require pre-mixing prior to application
  • On average, the cost of liquid coating is higher than powder
  • Presence of Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) 

TYPES OF LIQUID COATING

There are two categories of liquid coating:
  • Solvent Based Paints is liquid coating that is mixed with solvents. There is a chemical reaction between the solvent and liquid coating that allows the paint to cure 
  • Main Advantages of Solvent Based Paints: 
  • Ability to cure without curing 
  • Main Disadvantage of Solvent Based Paints: 
  • High waste – Coating dries once mixed. 
  • Water Based Paints is liquid coating that is mixed with water. 
  • Main Advantages of Water Based Paints: 
  • Low Volatile Organic Compound (VOC). 
  • Main Disadvantage of Water Based Paints: 
  • Not as durable as Solvent Based Paints
